To avoid any congestion at the front desk, all clients will be contacted within a two hour window of their scheduled appointment with their therapist to be screened and to take any co-payments.

Update May 4, 2020
Here at Cornerstone Family Therapy, we remain diligent in our fight against COVID-19. Our thoughts and prayers are with those impacted by the Coronavirus global pandemic. As always, our first and foremost priority is to ensure our clients receive the highest quality of care in the safest environment possible. Our offices have maintained strict standards while following updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
As we carefully prepare for the re-opening of face to face services, we have implemented enhanced precautions to ensure a safe environment for our clients and staff. Following are steps that we are taking to keep our clients and our clinical team safe:
What Cornerstone is Doing:
Our waiting room will remain closed at this time.
To help minimize the number of individuals entering our offices we will continue to offer telehealth whenever possible.
Those age 65 and older and/or are considered to have a high-risk condition will not be permitted in the office. If a client is in need of face to face services for telehealth, we ask that the staff notify the supervisor so that we may work with you to find a date/time when the client can come into the office when there are fewer individuals in the building.
Hand sanitizer is readily available for staff and immediately available for clients upon arrival.
Cornerstone has increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitation of high traffic areas and touch points throughout each building and we continue to monitor cleaning supplies in each suite.
Signage is posted for instructing clients and staff on COVID-19 safety guidelines and best practices.
We have provided appropriate PPE equipment for our staff such as gloves, face masks, hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes and spray.
Removed all unnecessary items such as magazines and newspapers that cannot be easily disinfected.
Reduced the sharing of work materials to the greatest extent possible.
In order to minimize possible contact with other clients near the main entrance and to ensure proper sanitation procedures are being implemented, Cornerstone is requiring that face to face sessions be no longer than 50 minutes OR are scheduled allowing enough time in between sessions.
What Staff is Doing:
All staff is required to self-monitor for any respiratory symptoms. Staff who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough and/or shortness of breath), or who has come in contact with someone with such symptoms will be asked to stay home. Symptomatic staff are required to stay home and are recommended to be tested before returning to the office.
Staff that becomes sick during the day will be sent home immediately. Surfaces in their workspace will be cleaned and disinfected and will not be allowed to return to the office until they have been symptom free for 3 days.
Staff who are experiencing COVID-19 like symptoms, but do not have COVID-19 will be required to wear a face mask when in the building.
Staff who are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 according to the CDC, either due to age or underlying health conditions, are encouraged to consider working from home.
During this time, staff is encouraged to work remotely whenever possible.
Staff will only be returning to the office in phases.
Staff will ensure they are washing their hands frequently and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
All staff are to frequently clean and disinfect commonly touched surfaces, including, but not limited to, door handles, chairs, desks, and bathrooms, especially after coming into contact with clients.
Staff will be responsible for screening each client upon arrival.
What You Can Do:
Clients who are experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, and/or shortness of breath), or who has come in contact with someone with such symptoms are asked to either reschedule or meet with their therapist via telehealth as they will be asked to leave if such symptoms are observed.
Clients (and staff) are asked to maintain social distancing at all times. When social distancing is difficult to maintain, a face mask is required.
We request that only those who are essential to the appointment accompany clients to their appointments.
Please wait in your car and your therapist will come out to greet you
Update March 26, 2020
We have recently been notified that someone with whom has come into contact with our offices in the past week has received a presumptive positive diagnosis of COVID-19. Currently none of the staff/providers at Cornerstone Family Therapy have any symptoms. We continue to take measures to sanitize both our homes and workspaces.
Cornerstone Family Therapy is committed to ensuring our clients receive the highest quality of care in the safest environment possible. If you were identified as someone who has been in contact with, or in close proximity to, any individual who has tested positive for the virus, you will be notified. Please know that this notification is not intended to cause a panic. Our goal is to be open and transparent, which we believe is essential in helping to stop the spread of this virus. This is a growing pandemic, and we will continue to share with you as we learn more about its impact.
Update March 23, 2020
In an effort to keep up with the rising COVID-19 diagnoses in the State of Indiana, we have decided to expand our recently updated waiting room policy from only essential individuals to NO individuals present in the waiting room.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but appreciate your understanding as we work through this time together.
Please wait in your car and your therapist will come out to greet you
Please contact your therapist if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you!

ATTN: Cornerstone Client(s)
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
Several factors make our business unique, namely that we are a private practice, our therapists are independent contractors and our focus on client health and wellbeing is our top priority. It is due to these unique circumstances that we are approaching the recent influx of information about the Coronavirus a bit differently than other businesses may.
In our best efforts to keep in mind the safety of all who utilize our offices, here’s what you need to know:
Our offices are open for use at your therapist’s discretion unless we receive state instruction to shut down or a confirmed case of COVID-19
Your therapist may need to cancel, reschedule or alter the formatting of your sessions if health becomes a concern
Telehealth (i.e. video) sessions may be an option your therapists discusses with you
If we do shut the building down, we will notify you as soon as possible and update our website.
Please limit visitors in the waiting room during your sessions to ONLY essential individuals (i.e. those who may take part in session, helped with transportation etc.)
Front desk staff will be limited. This also means there may be a delay in returning calls placed to the front desk. Please direct scheduling, payment and billing questions to your therapist if an office administrator is not available.
Here are the steps we’ve taken to further limit the spread of germs:
Hand sanitizer in the waiting room
Increased frequency of bathroom cleaning
Increased the frequency of the required cleaning and sanitization of our facility, including surfaces and common areas.
We are encouraging clients, staff and internship students to reduce handshaking, hand holding and hugs, and instead bump knuckles, touch elbows or avoid touching altogether
We are asking that those that have recently visited known outbreak areas and all clients who have flu or upper respiratory symptoms to stay home.
We are asking to limit visitors in the waiting room by requesting only essential individuals to attend.
If you or someone you know is experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough and/or shortness of breath), please contact your therapist about rescheduling or to inquire about Teletherapy.
We appreciate your understanding as we try to keep everyone safe and healthy.

Update March 16, 2020
Waiting Room Policy During Coronavirus Outbreak
In light of concerns regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) we’ve temporarily updated our waiting room policy.
Some of our client population is at high risk for complications of coronavirus and we’re asking clients to help limit potential exposure. Because of this we are looking to minimize non-essential people in our waiting rooms. We understand clients often require that a family member be present during their appointments; these people will NOT be affected by this updated temporary policy.
We ask that only people who are essential to the appointment accompany clients to their appointments. This includes time spent in the waiting room. If clients cannot accommodate this, they and their company may be asked to practice social distancing.
Additionally, if you cannot come into the office, teletherapy may be an option. This will allow us to keep our waiting less crowded for clients who require to come in for care.
Clients, and those escorting them, may be asked to reschedule if showing symptoms of illness. The health of all our clients is very important to us, and we are doing our part to limit the spread of COVID19. We appreciate your help and understanding during this time. Call us with questions or to reschedule at (574) 651-8912.
Update March 11, 2020
Visiting Cornerstone Family Therapy
As always, our first and foremost priority is to ensure our clients receive the highest quality of care in the safest environment possible. We are doing everything we can to ensure the safety of our clients, staff and visitors. As circumstances continue to shift and evolve, we'll keep you informed.
I have an appointment scheduled, should I cancel it?
At this time, appointments will continue as scheduled. Should there be any changes to your appointment, we will notify you as soon as possible. If you cannot come into the office, teletherapy may be an option. If you are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19, we ask that you please stay home, limit your exposure to other people and monitor your symptoms.
What can we do to protect ourselves?
The same good health habits that prevent other viruses like the flu, also prevent the spread of COVID-19. They also decrease the risk of getting sick, which would make you more susceptible to COVID-19.
These include:
Stay home when you are feeling ill (fever, cough, cold).
Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. If your hands are visibly dirty, always wash them with soap and water.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
Cover your cough or sneeze into your arm. If you use a tissue, discard the tissue in the trash and wash your hands or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects (door handles, light switches) and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
Get plenty of rest, drink plenty of fluids, eat healthy foods, and manage your stress to keep your immunity strong.
Thank you for choosing Cornerstone Family Therapy for your behavioral health needs. This situation is changing on an ongoing basis; we will continue to update you as new and pertinent information becomes available.

Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Cornerstone Family Therapy is proactively monitoring news and information regarding the spread of a coronavirus that is causing a respiratory illness known as “coronavirus disease 2019” (COVID-19). The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) describes the current risk as low in the United States but says the risk profile will change as more people are exposed.
Our Response
At our facility, we have asked for everyone to be vigilant and use additional sanitation for public surfaces.
We are encouraging clients, staff and internship students to reduce handshaking, hand holding and hugs, and instead bump knuckles, touch elbows or avoid touching altogether.
We are asking that those that have recently visited known outbreak areas and all clients who have flu or upper respiratory symptoms to stay home.
Thank you for helping us prevent the spread of infection at Cornerstone Family Therapy.
