Hi everyone, I’m Rebecca Alva, MSW. I work with people who are figuring out who they are in the middle of change: whether that’s a child learning to advocate for themselves, a teen coping with self-harm and identity struggles, a young adult setting boundaries, or someone later in life rediscovering what matters most. My focus is on helping us reawaken our strengths, find our voice, and build healthier and more authentic relationships.

My style is collaborative, warm, and practical. I draw from strengths-based therapy, Adlerian psychology, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, somatic work, and Dr. Bruce Perry’s neurosequential model of healing. What this means is, I look at the whole person: our story, our context, our resources, and help us make sense of what we’re carrying while also building the tools to move forward.

I’ve spent the past several years working in healthcare support roles throughout the Michiana area, including my clinical internship, where I walked alongside individuals and families facing difficult seasons of life. These experiences deepened my appreciation for the resilience of our community and strengthened my commitment to high-quality, accessible care. My training at Boston University’s clinical-track Master of Social Work program provided a rigorous foundation for this work, equipping me with both evidence-based skills and a commitment to compassionate, person-centered care.

I welcome working with people from all walks of life, including members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I recognize that our identities, whether related to gender, sexuality, race, culture, faith tradition, or even political perspective, can shape how we see the world and how the world sees us. These dynamics can profoundly affect our emotional health, and they’re always honored in the therapy space.

At the same time, you never need to discuss these areas unless you want to. Healing and growth are possible without having to explore every part of your identity or story. Therapy is always about what feels meaningful and helpful for you.

Outside of my work, I’ve been married since 2018 and we’re raising three kids who keep me grounded and inspired. I love day trips to try new food, exploring glasswork, and going on hiking adventures. These parts of my life remind me of the beauty in discovery and connection, themes I bring into therapy as well.

If you’re navigating a season of transition, feeling stuck, or wanting to feel more at home with yourself, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
