Hi, I’m Kimberly Childress, a graduate intern at Indiana University South Bend, pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Therapy, to me, is one of the few spaces where individuals can feel truly seen, heard, and understood without judgment. Within this safe and supportive environment, we will walk through the therapeutic journey together and set goals that matter most to you whether that’s improving relationships, building self-esteem, or pursuing personal growth. As you gain new insights, we will continue adapting your plan to ensure it remains meaningful and supportive as you move toward the life you want.

I tend to lean toward a person-centered approach, while also incorporating a variety of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Polyvagal Theory, and Motivational Interviewing. I also encourage practices such as self-reflection, journaling, meditation, and mindfulness.

My areas of interest include working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, and ADHD.

When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with my two German Shepherds, Kya and Kaiser. I also enjoy creative outlets such as reading novels, coloring, arts and crafts, DIY projects, audiobooks, and podcasts.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology from Purdue University Northwest in 2019. I am also a licensed cosmetologist, which has given me additional experience connecting with people and supporting them in feeling confident and cared for.
