Hello, my name is Eric Cabrera. I recently graduated from Indiana University South Bend with my Master’s degree in Social Work. I chose to pursue a career in social work after spending seven years working with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. This experience inspired me to further my education and deepen my understanding of advocacy and behavioral health services.
I strive to create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment where individuals feel comfortable processing their experiences, growing, and healing. My approach is rooted in cultural humility, person-centered care, strengths-based practices, and narrative therapy. These approaches allow me to better understand and respect each individual's unique background, beliefs, sexual orientation, and gender identity while recognizing their personal strengths. I believe in working collaboratively with individuals to build upon those strengths and navigate life's challenges in a positive and meaningful way.
I enjoy working with children ages 10 and older, adolescents, and adults, and I welcome individuals from all walks of life. My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, intellectual disabilities, autism, and LGBTQIA2S+ concerns and experiences.
I incorporate evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and AFFIRM, to support individuals as they navigate mental health concerns, difficult experiences, and life transitions.
My goal is to provide a supportive, affirming space where individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout their journey toward growth and healing.
