Hello, my name is Alexis Burgess, and I am a master’s-level counseling intern currently pursuing my degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I provide counseling services to children, adolescents, and adults under the supervision of a licensed therapist.

I have worked in the field of education for nearly 15 years, and my background as an English Learner teacher has strongly shaped my work. Through this experience, I have supported school-aged children, teens, and their families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, including work in adult education with immigrant families. As a Mexican-American woman, this work is both personal and meaningful to me, and I am committed to creating a culturally responsive, supportive space where clients feel seen, respected, and heard.

I take a person-centered and strengths-based approach to counseling while integrating elements of cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused therapies to meet each client’s unique needs. I have a strong interest in working with concerns such as anxiety, depression, stress management, school-related challenges, life transitions, and identity development. I am especially passionate about supporting youth and young adults as they navigate academic pressures, family dynamics, and the complexities of growing into their sense of self.

I strive to build genuine, collaborative relationships with clients and to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel supported as they explore their experiences and work toward meaningful growth at their own pace.
